Sep 19 - Dreamforce Take Aways

  • Last week I was at Dreamforce, hence no posting.
  • As an experienced administrator, I think a lot of the value from the conference stemmed from the more specialized tracks, such as the verticals track where I learned more about project management tracking in salesforce.com, and advanced sales execs that were more concerned with how to strategically use salesforce.com.
  • For those of you who attended, I'd like to hear what you thought about it.  Please post if you like here on the blog, or send me an email if you prefer.
  • Some highlights for me included:
    • Competitive Intelligence Tracking (advanced sales execs)
    • Product Roadmap by Benji Jasik.
    • Meeting the other user group leaders before the conference kicked off
    • Checking out appexchange - AKA Level 6!
    • Chris Anderson's Long Tail speech.  I read his magazine religiously, so getting a first hand account of this was fantastic. His blog aptly named, is cool too.
    • Meeting and recruiting the new NY user group members.  When word got out that we do our meetings via webex - suddenly everyone can attend and wanted to connect.  The beauty of the web, will I ever get over it?
  • I'm planning to write up a few paragraphs up on the conference to share with my peers in the sales operations group.  I think it's important for them to understand that the scope of salesforce is going to change pretty dramatically in the next release.
